Located on the Nevada-Utah border, the Wendover area has been a welcome sight for weary travelers for over a century, symbolizing the end of the Great Salt Desert. Wendover is 120 miles west of Salt Lake City, 404 miles east of Reno/Sparks and 400 miles north of Las Vegas.
The community is well known for its role during World War II. Crews trained for the historic atomic bombing missions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the Wendover Field, now a fully equipped commercial airport.
Elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and extension offices for both Great Basin College and Utah State University enhance community education.
Multipurpose sporting facilities, an equestrian park, 18-hole championship golf course, a swimming pool and many hiking, mountain biking and ATV trails provide excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Industrial Property in West Wendover
West Wendover has over 30 acres of developed industrial property/lots available today to meet current demand. This property is part of the City’s Logistical Park, recently developed and made available for purchase from the City. The property is adjacent U.S. Highway 93A and a main line of Union Pacific Railroad as well as being just one-quarter mile from Interstate 80.
In addition, West Wendover has hundreds of acres of privately owned industrial property. Locations are zoned for light and general industrial use.
Just outside of the city limits are areas currently zoned open space/agriculture. Rezoning will not be difficult in areas that would be bettered served for industry and manufacturing.
Area Strengths
- West Wendover is located on the Utah and Nevada border. Utah companies and companies serving the Intermountain West that are considering a Nevada location will benefit by locating to West Wendover. The location will place them in the business friendly state of Nevada; yet maintains access to their markets.
- West Wendover is located on or near two major trucking routes. Both Interstate 80 and US 93A are accessible from the city.
- Great rail service development is possible through one of Union Pacific Rail Road’s main lines. This line parallels the community and connects the Rocky Mountain area to the West Coast.
- A large commercial airport is located on the eastern side of the conjoined cities of West Wendover, Nevada and Wendover, Utah. Companies needing to ship by way of airfreight will find access to the Wendover Airport beneficial.
