ELKO COUNTY

Accessible To Several Major Markets”

Communities in Elko CountyElko County is ideally located between the Pacific West and Intermountain West region of the United States. The primary transportation route that services the County is Interstate 80, which provides critical links to major urban centers to the west and east, including Reno, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City. U.S. Highway 93, a north-south route and NAFTA corridor, provides connections to Twin Falls, Idaho to the north and Las Vegas to the south. State Highway 225 follows a northerly route through the Owyhee Mountains where it accesses the Boise area and Interstate 84 near the Oregon border.

In addition to having access to several major transportation routes, Elko County benefits from border-to-border rail access. Union Pacific owned rail lines travel east to west and north. Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad has trackage rights to also serve the area.

Northeastern Nevada enjoys a diversified economy built on mining, casino gaming, retail, ranching and tourism. Elko County is one of Nevada’s most scenic areas, offering outdoor enthusiasts opportunities to recreate surrounded by beautiful high desert and mountain vistas.
