ELKO — The Pointe at Ruby View reached another milestone this week — the first completion of a home in the new subdivision.

Many may have seen the large brick home on Khoury Lane built by Kelly Builders. It is the first home to be completed since the subdivision was started in 2007.

Laura Kelly, of Kelly Builders and a Realtor for Coldwell Banker Algerio/Q-Team Realty, said she worked with the family for two years to design the home. The family did not want to be named.

“People don’t realize we can do a land-home package for financing,” Kelly said.

She said the family picked out what they wanted in the home and Kelly Builders was able to help determine what amenities fit their budget, including all the appliances in the home.

“We do turn-key construction,” Kelly said about Kelly Builders.

The home includes many amenities, from a gas fireplace connected to a thermostat to granite countertops. Kelly said granite has become more affordable at $45 to $47 a foot instead of $75.

Kelly said the completed home has 3,149 square feet above ground and an unfinished basement.

Due to the subdivision’s codes, the smallest custom-built home allowed in The Pointe is 2,100 square feet, Jim Winer, owner of Coldwell Banker Algerio/Q-Team Realty, said. Anyone looking for something smaller could purchase a patio home, which will be 1,300 to 1,400 square feet.

Kelly said a good feature of the Pointe is the codes for the subdivision because they limit certain homes to one story so they don’t block the views from other homes.

“You’re going to have a view no matter where you build,” she said.

Winer, one of the developers of the subdivision, said 18 of the 29 lots are still left in phase one of The Pointe. Each lot has 10,000 to 20,000 of buildable square feet and all are located above Ruby View Golf Course.

Winer said Kelly Builders will soon start phase two of the development — 10 patio homes.

Kelly said the company is hoping to presell the homes before construction and it already has one sold.

“We also hope to have one as a model home,” she said.
