ELKO — El Aero has not moved into its new building yet, but it already has at least one decoration for the office.

The company received an award for growth and development from the Elko County Economic Diversification Authority Thursday in recognition for the construction project.

The new facility cost $2 million and will provide “enhanced services to the general aviation community in our area,” said El Aero President Ginna Reyes. “It is a terrific honor to receive this award,” she said. “El Aero is thrilled to move into its new home.”

Reyes said employees should be able to move into the building in March. El Aero will host a grand opening some time in April, so the public can tour the building, she said.

The new facility offers a heated 10,000-square-foot hangar that is available to local residents as well as people passing through the area, Reyes said.

She said people can think of it as a “garage” for their aircraft.

El Aero will continue to be a full-service facility for all types of aircraft, Reyes said.

“Whatever need there is, it is our goal to exceed that level,” she said.

Part of exceeding the need of customers is found in the new building.

The facility includes a 6,500-square-foot, fixed-based operation office with an expanded lobby area for passengers and crews, a private pilot’s lounge, a flight planning area and a flight instruction area.

The office also houses two conference rooms open to the public, Reyes said.

“We want to allow the public to be more aware of what general aviation is about,” she said. “It’s also an opportunity for people to get away from downtown.”

El Aero’s new building also has three upstairs offices available for rent.

“It doesn’t have to be an aviation-related business,” Reyes said.
