Planners OK scaled-down annexation
By JOHN SENTS - Staff Writer ELKO - The Elko City Planning Commission sent a recommendation to the city council Tuesday that it approve annexation of 196 acres south of the intersection of Errecart Boulevard and Bullion Road - conditional on a number of issues.
The annexation request, sought by developer Prime West Elko LLC, is a drastic reduction from a previous request to have more than 1,095 acres annexed into the City of Elko.
The developers might be required to create an access road extending Errecart Boulevard from the hospital to Bullion Road. If that happens, it would create a new access route from Lamoille Highway to Silver Street - which could be accessed over the Errecart Bridge.
Conditions set by the planning commission include development of a master utility plan for the property, which must be approved by the city council prior to annexation approvals; preparing a parcel map; and providing a right-of-way on an easement south from the intersection of Errecart Boulevard and Bullion Road.
Plans showing the proposed alignment of Errecart Boulevard must be submitted for possible approval, along with water and sewer studies; obtaining water rights in sufficient quantities to support the proposed development; and addressing in the development agreement incremental development of Errecart Boulevard from Bullion Road up to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital.
No one from the public came to speak against the annexation, although attorney Richard L. Tretheway - who represents lenders to Prime West Holding for 304 acres of unrelated land that is already within city limits - submitted a letter in opposition.
The letter cited multiple concerns
