School Board approves $30K in grant matches
ELKO - The Elko County School Board of Trustees approved $30,684 in matching funds Tuesday to go toward needed projects at area schools.
The funds were approved under the district's incentive grant program, offered in November and February every year.
“It is a way for the schools to raise additional money for special projects they can't normally fund through the regular operating budget,” said Jeff Zander, assistant superintendent of the Elko County School District.
Those receiving funds include Adobe Middle School, Elko High School, Flag View Intermediate School, Grammar No. 2 Elementary, Mountain View Elementary, Owyhee Elementary, Sage Elementary, Spring Creek Middle School, Wells Elementary, Wells Junior and Senior High School, West Wendover Elementary and West Wendover High School.
The funds will fill needs such as accelerated reader books, computers, math night supplies for Owyhee Elementary, a portable drama stage for Spring Creek Middle School and a scoreboard for the softball field at West Wendover High School.
