Tax abatements supported by board By Ali Helgoth Staff Writer Elko Daily Free Press
ELKO - At last week's Elko County Commission meeting, commissioners agreed to write a letter of acknowledgment and support to the Nevada Commission of Economic Development regarding economic development tax abatements for RAM Enterprises, which is expanding its Elko business
Also, commissioners:
Awarded a contract for design, fabrication and installation of interpretive elements for the outdoor interpretive plaza at the entrance to the California Trail Interpretive Center to HB Stubbs of Salt Lake City for $154,000;
Set to public hearing a request from Nevada Ranch Service representing HK Harris to exchange land adjacent to Sundance Drive and Mountain City Highway;
Approved a request by Charles and Krinn McCoy to vacate a portion of an easement along the Jarbidge River in Jarbidge;
Gave support for two mining projects - Maverick Silver's Maverick Range exploration project, which includes six acres of new disturbance; and Barrick Goldstrike's Betze Pit Expansion Project, which includes 494 acres of new disturbance;
Gave an exemption to the Carlin Justice Court from a requirement that courts recycle paper;
Awarded a certificate of appreciation to Carol Madsen for 10 years of service on the Elko County Library Board of Trustees.
