ECEDA economic development speaker a ‘must-see’ Tuesday
ELKO — Is our community doing everything it can to attract new business to the area?
This is a question Jim Renzas with Site Selection Network will answer during Elko County Economic Diversification Authority’s Creating Development-Ready Communities Luncheon at noon Tuesday at the Stockmen’s Hotel and Casino. The luncheon will be in the upstairs banquet room.
Luncheon attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Renzas, an experienced site consultant and president of Site Selection Network. Renzas will speak frankly to the people of northeastern Nevada regarding the development potential of Elko, Spring Creek, Wells, Carlin, West Wendover and Elko County.
A community’s appearance and available resources are key when trying to appeal to new industry and residents, said Elaine Barkdull Spencer, executive director of ECEDA. Renzas will explain the importance of rural government’s role in economic development and will address the need for rural governments to invest in amenities, roads and expanding services in advance of growth.
Renzas plans to speak to attending real estate professionals regarding land prices and the value of location and site preparation, plus how to market their listings. Landowners and investors will hear Renzas speak about developing their sites so as to successfully lease or sell their properties. They will find out about the value of spec buildings and build-to-suit options.
Economic development and company recruitment is very competitive as communities — large and small — across the nation attempt to lure the same companies. Renzas will explain his perception of the strengths and shortfalls of northeastern Nevada. He will also address the state incentive program and let the community know how Nevada measures up to other states.
“Elko County is an area of opportunity for new industry, new retail, expansion of existing businesses, great paying jobs and excellent investment opportunities,” Barkdull Spencer said. “Join us for this enlightening session and find out how you can impact the future of Elko County.”
ECEDA invites business leaders, government officials, real estate professionals, and the general public to attend this special luncheon and presentation.
Tickets are $15 and available through today by calling ECEDA at 738-2100.
