Businesses network at ECEDA event

ELKO — Elko County Economic Diversification Authority’s first Business to Business Expo attracted 80 to 100 participants to the Great basin College campus Thursday.

The Expo “was a great opportunity for business to network and share information about their products and services,” said ECEDA Executive Director Elaine Barkdull Spencer. “The event attracted current business operators and those contemplating going into business in Elko.”

Expo participants and attendees numbered in the dozens at the special sessions, depending on the topic, said Barkdull Spencer.

“The organizers, participants and attendees agreed that it was a successful first year for ECEDA’s Business-to-Business Expo and that the event should be an annual happening,” she said.

The planning committee, which consisted of ECEDA, Elko Area Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Small Business Development Center, will start planning next year’s event right away. Ideas for new sessions, such as one specifically for start-up businesses, already have been added to next year’s plans. An official logo for the event will be designed and guests can expect goody-bags as they walk through the door.

“ECEDA’s goals for the 2007 Business-to-Business Expo were met, and special thanks to all the media organizations for their sponsorships and to Great Basin College for the ideal location,” said Barkdull Spencer.
