Workforce solutions seminar
ELKO — Are you frustrated with today’s workforce? That’s a question Elaine Barkdull Spencer, executive director of the Elko County Economic Diversification Authority, would like to find not only an answer to — but a solution for.
To help reach that objective and find solutions for other business-related obstacles, a Business-to-Business Expo is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 at Great Basin College. A special session focusing on workforce issues is scheduled during the event from 10 a.m. to noon.
Citing the difficulty business owners and managers often confront in hiring and retaining employees with the skills needed to meet their staffing needs, Barkdull Spencer said this particular special session of the Business-to-Business Expo will provide the opportunity to view hiring and retaining employees from a different perspective.
Tom Fitzgerald, CEO of Nevadaworks, will present information on attracting and retaining employees, the proper use of incentives, and generational attitudes in today’s work force.
Attendees will learn about what creates a generation, such as fads, historical events, time passage, bonding, technology, music, culture, birth, attitudes, heroes, passions and experiences. Other areas included in the discussion are services available to meet these demands, and training options.
The event is designed to help businesses succeed in today’s changing work environment. Participants will be rewarded with a fresh outlook to tackle hiring needs.
