Interstate 80 runs east-west through the county, connecting Carlin, Elko, Wells and West Wendover with Utah to the east and California to the west. US 93 runs north-south, through Wells and Jackpot connecting to Idaho in the north and Ely and las Vegas, Nevada in the south.

Both railroads parallel Interstate 80. Passenger rail is available through Amtrak out of Elko.
